Thank You for your words of encouragement! Praise the Lord for Pastors who love God and are willing to lay down their lives to teach, mentor and be a role model for us and who take the time to actually study and know the word and just teach from the bible! (After all, that is why God gave it to us - so we could learn from it - We can know everything about Him, and why He created us, and what is currently happening in this world and what will happen after we die - all beforehand.)

Like you, I don't know what I'd do without a relationship with this loving God. I used to get so very depressed before I knew Him. I have so learned this through experience: "If you want JOY in your life, JOY in an acronym for the order of precedence you must set in your life... you must first focus on Jesus, then Others, then Yourself, and you will always have JOY."

I pray people will open that door while the Lord is still knocking, and that they don't turn from our God of miracles and blame Him for temporal hardships and situations beyond their control, but that they would turn to Him for his supernatural blessings that He is waiting to pour out upon and into them.

With regard to the cancer and people twisting things out of context in the bible, Isn't it cool how Luke (of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) was a Physician? That God places Doctors here on this earth to also help us with our physical body's needs when we are ill? So if anyone tells you not to seek help from a Doctor when you or a child or anyone else is sick, it does not come from the God of the bible - it is false doctrine.

Thanks for lifting my daughter up in prayer while she is deployed. That means so much to us. I wish everyone understood the value and power in prayer. We know that prayer works and as we intercede for others, we are placing ourselves in spiritual battle fighting with our hearts and soul. The key is to know it's God's battle and prayer is how we participate in battle for one another. We have a program on our Calvary Radio Station WJWD 90.3 fm here in Madison, WI., called 'Battleground'. It's a Live Call-In Prayer Time M-F @ 10:30 am Central. It airs on over 30 stations, mainly in the Great Lakes Regional area. Battleground starts with a short devotional, then right into battle, tens of thousands of prayer warriors come together to pray for those that have submitted requests for prayer. Battleground is hosted by various pastors from within the listening area. The fruit has been plentiful: healings, marriages restored, changed lives - for the better!, renewed relationships with the Lord, and many more praises to God for answered prayer.

Would you and your church / fellowship consider participating with us in Battle? Send us your prayer list by fax 219.548.5808, phone 866.303.9457, or e-mail @, then join us in prayer each weekday on Calvary Radio

God Bless You & Prosper Your Work, my sister, Annie. It is SO good to know you!
Love & JOY!

I did not realize this was a religous site.....I thought is was a public site for people who needed help in the form of aid not religion. I'm a very spirtual person but I'm not religous. I see nothing wrong with people wanting to brighten up there homes during this time of year. After all it is the darkest time of year and all the nice holiday lights make things feel brighter. I don't believe in this time of year in the same way other people might but it is nice for familys to get togeather and share gifts with each other. As far as Santa Clasus. Well! I'm old enogh to realize that was just for fun. If you don't believe in cutting a tree down you do not have to. If you don't want to do anything you don't have to. You have free will and so does everyone else. I respect your beliefs and only hope you can do the same for others.

I CANNOT STRESS the POINT ENOUGH to GET INTO a Bible Believing & TEACHING CHURCH that TEACHES the ENTIRE Bible Chapter by Chapter and Verse by Verse (The FULL Council of GOD - without taking a few lines of the subject then going out of context, or forgetting to whom the passage was directed to) When you MAKE A STUDY of the Holy Bible, you can look up the real meaning of ORIGINAL words used in Hebrew(OT) or Greek (NT) (sometimes it is lost in translation) . . The people of Jeremiah's day were CHISELING and CARVING IDOLS (ex: imagine golden Buddah statues) out of the trees of the woods and worshiping them. . .

Jeremiah 10 and Christmas Trees

Christians opposed to Christmas have often argued that Jeremiah condemns Christmas trees. They believe that Jeremiah 10:2-4 is quite plain — Christmas trees are sinful. But are these Christmas critics correct? Does Jeremiah 10:2-4 actually condemn the setting up of Christmas trees?

The King James Version reads: "Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen.... For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not." On the surface it does seem that Jeremiah is describing Christmas trees. But let's look deeper.

An important key to understanding any passage is to pay careful attention to its context. Verses 2 through 4 of Jeremiah 10 are part of a larger context. That larger context is verses 1 through 16. In these verses Jeremiah proclaims the Lord as the only God. "No one is like you, O Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power. Who should not revere you, O King of the nations? This is your due.... The Lord is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King.... God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding" (verses 6-7, 10, 12, NIV).

The gods that pagans worship are nothing compared to the Lord. "These gods, who did not make the heavens and the earth, will perish from the earth and from under the heavens" (verse 11). They are mere images made by men and women. "Every goldsmith is shamed by his idols. His images are a fraud; they have no breath in them. They are worthless, the objects of mockery" (verses 14-15).

Gold is not the only substance used to make idols. Verses 8 and 9 speak of "worthless wooden idols" on which workmen place hammered silver and gold, and rich apparel. When we consider that these verses condemn idolatry, we can understand what Jeremiah meant when he said "the customs of the peoples are worthless" (verse 3). No wonder he tells us not to "learn the way of the nations" (verse 2).

Turning to translations other than the King James also helps our understanding. Where the King James reads "one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe" (verse 3), the New International Version says "they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel." The tool referred to in the passage is not a woodsman's tool, but that of a wood carver. Most modern English translations agree with the NIV.

Jeremiah is not condemning Christmas trees. He is condemning idolatry. The trees in Jeremiah 10 are cut down to carve them into worthless idols that will later be decorated with gold and silver. Jeremiah says nothing about Christmas trees. That custom originated in northern Europe, not in ancient Judea.

If you are not worshiping your trees as gods; If you are not going bankrupt trying to give away gifts at Christmastime, If you are not trying to portray yourself as something you are not - say rich with endless funds, If celebrating Christmas isn't hurting you financially, or taking any tithes or glory away from the Lord God, Creator of the heaven and the earth, then put up a tree.

I tell you all this because THAT VERY PASSAGE ABOVE stumbled me when I came across it, and our Pastor at that time couldn't/wouldn't answer the questions I had about it for 6 months - He wasn't teaching the full council of God, and quite frankly, he didn't know the full council (entire bible), nor did he want to or ever make an attempt to help us understand. That's when we left the denominational church and went to a non-denominational one who simply teaches the bible and doesn't have man made traditions - a thing which God hates anyway.

Until I found answers, we decided that every thing we did, and every gift we gave to one another would be to glorify God - examples:
1) @ 13 our daughter received a pink sapphire (birthstone) chastity ring - to remind her to wait to have sex until marriage (that she was married to Jesus until her wedding day at which time she would replace that ring with her wedding band)
2) Our son received guitar lessons so he could play worship music unto the Lord
3) We decided to open our home to elderly, shut-ins, handicapped, homeless, ex-cons (and employ them), strangers with no where to go every year for the holidays and fore go giving gifts to each other so others could know God and really feel His love and WANT Him in their lives and ACCEPT HIM as their Lord and Savior for THIS is the meaning of life - to prepare for our next life.

Bottom Line is - Sometimes we have a tree and sometimes we don't.
This year we won't as my husband lost his contracts back in February and was self employed so we never got any unemployment and have been selling everything we have. (Thank God he is now at least underemployed and our mortgage is being paid) and God tells us he does not leave His children begging for bread - Thank You Jesus!, I have been battling cancer and am too sick to get things done, and our daughter (who would normally help me) is in the middle east fighting for our freedom so we can argue with each other about whether or not to put up a Christmas tree - instead of being focused on pointing souls to eternal salvation.

You are correct in your assumption there is no commandment in the Christian faith or bible concerning the "Christmas tree" like many other festive Christmas customs, the tree was adopted late in America. To the New England Puritans, Christmas was sacred. The Pilgrims second governor, William Bradford, wrote that he tried hard to stamp out "pagan mockery" of the observance, penalizing any frivolity. The influential Oliver Cromwell preached against "the heathen traditions" of Christmas carols, decorated trees, and any joyful expression that desecrated "that sacred event." In 1659, the General Court of Massachusetts enacted a law making any observance of December 25 (other than a church service) a penal offense; people were fined for hanging decorations. That stern solemnity continued until the 19th century, when the influx of German and Irish immigrants undermined the Puritan legacy.

Although there is no "commandment" to do such many also put on display Nativity setting as part of observance of the birth of the Christ child as well as "Angels" etc as a way to celebrate Jesus birth and that is what Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Christ it may come as a shock to you but even many tribes of native Americans have adopted many of this into their own culture. I don't think you need a black and white written commandment to celebrate or display things that celebrate Christ birth.

The first question that should be asked in regard to this subject is the following: Is there a command anywhere in the Holy Scriptures that a human should cut a tree out of the forest, set it up in one's home at the time of the Winter Solstice, deck it with trinkets and various decorations, and then place a star on its topmost part to show an association of the tree with the signs of the heavens? There is, of course, no such command nor suggestion that such a thing should be done.
Hey Eutawangel my family and I also do not celebrate this holiday or April's because we already know the truth God showed us three years ago, we just acknowledge his birth, and praise God Jesus,is in Heaven, we do fully believe in Jesus's birth, but not in the pagan way, we Bless all year round, and believe in helping people all the time. We respect others belief and others respect ours, We share the truth when God leads us this way, so thank you for sharing, everyone should do research in these last days!!!..God Bless...:)
